Former Director of the Document Examination Sections of the Commonwealth Police, Australian Federal Police and the Australian Department of Immigration & Ethnic Affairs. Consulted regularly by State and Federal government departments and instrumentalities in Australia as well as numerous legal firms, banks, financial and auditing institutions both in Australia and overseas. Extensive court experience throughout Australia and overseas spanning a period in excess of thirty years. Occasional lecturer on document examination at the University of Sydney, Centre for Continuing Education; Australian National University Legal Workshop; Charles Sturt University, NSW Police Academy Campus. Regularly attends and participates in national and international meetings in this area of forensic science.
Authored the chapter on Document Examination in the Law Book Company’s loose leaf publication “Expert Evidence” published in 1993; author of the article “Document Examination” in the publication Expert Evidence in Family Law published in 1999. Co-author of the article “Document Analysis – Handwriting” in the Encyclopedia of Forensic Science (Academic Press, 2000). Regularly co-presents courses on the applications of forensic document examination to investigators and lawyers.
Awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia in 1982 for services in the field of forensic document examination whilst a member of the Australian Federal Police. Awarded the National Medal in 1984 in respect of police service. Holds the degree of Bachelor of Laws and a Diploma in Document Examination from the Forensic Science Society of the United Kingdom.
Foundation member of the Australasian Society of Forensic Document Examiners. Former President and Secretary of that Society. Corresponding Member of the American Society of Questioned Document Examiners. Member and Registered Forensic Practitioner of the Australian and New Zealand Forensic Science Society and Member of the Forensic Science Society of the United Kingdom.

Matthew commenced employment with Forensic Document Services Pty Ltd in January 2003. In 2006 Matthew became manager of Forensic Digital Services and in 2007 became part owner and Director. Since 2003 Matthew has been responsible for computer forensic investigations/examinations conducted by Forensic Digital Services and Forensic Document Services.
His training has encompassed study at both tertiary and third party levels. Has completed the following studies in computer forensics; AccessData’s Bootcamp, AccessData’s Windows Forensics, AccessData’s Applied Decryption, NUIX fbi Forensic Desktop and SANS Institute – System Forensics, Investigation and Response.
He has completed a number of courses in Novell and Microsoft networking and has extensive experience in the Linux/Unix and Apple OS environment. He has received expert training in AccessData’s Forensic Toolkit, NUIX fbi Forensic Desktop and other various computer forensic tools; and experience with Guidance Software’s EnCase.
Matthew has been involved in both criminal and civil matters and has been responsible for preparation of expert testimony and has provided support to council in the cross examination of computer forensic experts in civil and criminal matters. Matthew has taken part in Moot Court training sessions and has attended court on a number of occasions and has presented evidence as an expert witness.
He has prepared expert reports for the purposes of obtaining Anton Piller orders and has taken part in the execution of such orders. His experience has also included the examination of computer systems in a covert manner primarily in a corporate environment. Matthew has worked in conjunction with fellow computer forensic examiners from the police, government agencies and private sectors.
Matthew advises on and delivers training in the field of computer forensics to private individuals as well as corporate and government agencies. He has also presented on a number of computer forensic topics to government, private and public organisations and associations.

Brendon commenced employment with Forensic Digital Services Pty Ltd in 2007 as a Trainee Computer Forensic Examiner.
He has worked as an IT professional since 1999. During that time he has performed the roles of:
• Managing a large highly technical team.
• Technical Team Leader travelling both domestically and internationally.
• Senior Technical Analyst involved in the design and deployment of large IT projects.
Brendon has undertaken several IT industry based training courses and certifications with Novell and Microsoft in the areas of IT security, network architecture, programming and advanced IT administration.
Since commencing with Forensic Digital Services, Brendon has received on the job training in various parts of the computer forensics field including the recovery of deleted files; examination of email header information to determine sender and network information; examination of computer systems for suspect or malicious software; examination of individual office computer systems to determine user activities; and a variety of other related computer matters.
Brendon has also received expert training in AccessData’s Forensic Toolkit.
In April 2008 Brendon attended an Expert Witness and Expert Evidence Workshop run by Professor the Hon. George Hampel AM QC.
In May 2008 Brendon presented the topic of “What Lawyers Need to Know About Digital Evidence - An Introduction to Computer Forensics” to The Law Society of Singapore.
